Dental technology has come a long way in recent years. As a result, many dental procedures are safer, more effective, less painful, and more affordable than ever. Many procedures that are routine now were not even possible 20 years ago. Here are a few of the diagnostic and treatment technologies we have available at the Center for Exceptional Dentistry:

Intraoral Camera – This small camera is embedded in a probe that we use to inspect the inside of your mouth, tooth by tooth. This provides us with a much more detailed and comprehensive look at your teeth and gums. It also allows you to see exactly what the camera sees on a video monitor.

Velscope – This hand-held device has revolutionized oral cancer detection. It emits a fluorescent light that can detect underlying gum tissue changes that are not visible with natural light and the naked eye.

TENS Unit – The Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator is an indispensable tool for the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD). This device relaxes your muscles, allowing Dr. Firouzi to measure the extent of malocclusion in TMD patients. The TENS is also helpful in treating TMD-related muscle and joint pain.

CT Scan – Dr. Firouzi uses CT imaging for many purposes, from determining optimal placement of dental implants to mapping malocclusion in TMD patients.

Dexis Digital X-rays – This digital X-ray system produces highly detailed X-ray images while emitting a fraction of the radiation of traditional X-ray imaging technology.

Digital camera – Our top-of-the-line digital camera and imaging software has multiple uses around our office. It is particularly useful in cosmetic dentistry applications.

K7 Evaluation System – Measuring and recording mandibular function and masticatory muscle status adds invaluable information to the diagnostic process and is critical to neuromuscular dentistry. Objective information about TM joint status further adds to Dr. Firouiz’s data.

The K7 Evaluation System provides Dr. Firouzi with three technologies for measuring, displaying and storing objective data on physiologic and anatomical status and function: jaw tracking, electromyography and joint sonography. This objective data enhances Dr. Firouiz’s diagnostic and treatment considerations with information not previously available.

The Wand – Controlled Anesthesia – Our practice is committed to providing you with the latest and best advances in dentistry, that is why we now offer anesthesia with the “magic” Wand.

This means that every time we numb you up it will be a pleasant experience. The Wand uses a small hand piece that looks like a pen. This system gives a supply of anesthetic in a slow comfortable manner. The Wand™ uses a unique new technology, which is unlike any other. It works at a low pressure and a slow rate that gives an improved anesthesia. It works more effectively resulting in a more pleasant experience.

SNAP Dental Imaging – The SNAP Instant Dental Imaging system represents the state of the art in the use of dental imagery. This system allows us to provide our patients a Free smile evaluation photo! This software allows us to show our patients how their teeth would look if they whitened their teeth or placed veneers or crowns on them. If you have a space between your front teeth or missing a front tooth; we can show you how your teeth would look if you closed the space or if you replaced the front missing tooth. Our patients love these photos, because they can see how they would look before undergoing a cosmetic or restorative procedure!

A modern dentist’s office should be well-stocked with the latest dental technology. The Center for Exceptional Dentistry prides itself on having the best technology available to treat all of your dental problems.
